Welcome to the Medusa Complex website! Our sound is a groove-based mix of funk, rock and reggae.

Band founder and songwriter Carla Parks weaves her soulful vocals and guitar through heavy bass and drums creating a blend that recalls the best of our influences; a diverse mix including Sly and the Family Stone, Bob Marley, Yes, Primus, Tracy Chapman, Stevie Wonder, Van Halen and others.

Medusa Complex has been a regular on the Washington, DC-area music scene since 1995, when the band organized and performed with other local groups in the Rock Back Against Rape benefit for the D.C. Rape Crisis Center. Since then, we've performed at many venues, including the Grog & Tankard, the Metro Cafe, the Velvet Lounge and the Black Cat in DC; The C-Note, Meow Mix Bar, and Le Bar Bat in New York City, with the Women 'N Rock tour and the NOW Beach Party 2001 in Virginia Beach, VA; Mt. Pleasant Day Festival, Rock Back Against Rape 2001, Powhatan County Fair, as well as several other benefits for local and National organizations. Our song "Funky Suzy" was featured on the "Women 'N Rock 2000" Compilation CD.
